What a con! I received a message saying, "Hey Mum, I’m in a bind. Please add me on WhatsApp using this new number." It’s clearly a ruse to frighten you into handing over your personal information or cash by making you believe your child is in peril. Best to disregard it, report the number, and then block it immediately. Don't fall for it!

Received a message telling me to contact you from another number. Hi Mum, my phone’s completely wrecked at the moment, so I’ve had to message you using a mate’s phone, but the battery is running low on it. Could you send a WhatsApp to my new number? It’s 07466139852. Cheers!

I received a call earlier today from a woman with a foreign accent. She kept addressing me as "Ma'am," which I find rather irritating. She claimed to be from BT, insisting that my internet would be disconnected unless I provided all my personal details, due to some alleged fault on BT’s part that was beyond their control. I informed her that I have no interest in the internet and hung up. I wouldn't be surprised if she attempts to reach me again. It's astonishing how these individuals manage to evade the rules surrounding nuisance calls. Even being registered with the TPS seems ineffective! 😡

Same old story: a woman with an Asian accent (not sure if it was Indian or maybe from Thailand or the Philippines) claiming to be from BT internet, saying there's an issue with my connection or something. I told her I needed to check with "my IT guy" and asked if there was a number he could contact her on. She gave me 0203 289 9604 (might be worth checking that one out?) and then I just hung up. I don’t even have BT internet, but that doesn’t stop them. Can't imagine the trouble if I’d actually gone along with what they said.

I've been receiving calls from this number every now and then, typically twice in a single day. It appears on my mobile as International 01398774762, which seems rather dodgy. I choose not to pick up, and naturally, they never leave a voicemail. I quite concur that BT and other telecom providers really ought to take action against these nuisance callers.

I received a rather peculiar phone call this morning from a lady who I presume was Asian, her accent was so thick it was nearly impossible to comprehend what she was saying. She introduced herself as Jenny Smith, which made me chuckle as I found it rather hard to believe. I playfully asked her to address me as Manjit-definitely not my actual name! It's all a bit ridiculous, isn't it? This is undeniably a scam, and it’s infuriating to think how these con artists can operate without any consequences. How is it that they manage to get away with such nonsense?

01398774762 called me, some bloke with an Indian accent who gave the name Mathew Jordan, supposedly from BT. He claimed they were about to cut off my internet for five days. When I said I'd verify with BT first, he just hung up on me out of nowhere! Proper rubbish.

BT called us again today. My husband told the bloke he doesn’t have a computer. The guy then asked if he had a tablet. My husband replied, “Yeah, I take quite a few tablets, I’m not feeling too great.” The man swore and hung up straight away.

Just like what everyone else said, I got a call from an Asian lady saying BT is about to disconnect my internet. She said they could sort it out if I logged on and did what she told me. I received a call from this number claiming that BT was going to suspend my internet for twenty days. When I told them that I wasn’t with BT, they insisted that it didn’t matter and urged me to enter a code on my phone to resolve the issue. I promptly hung up. Just a word of caution, everyone-stay vigilant! It displayed as a UK number, but it was clearly an Indian call centre trying to pull a fast one 🙄.

Today I received a rather dubious phone call from this number, where the chap on the other end was insisting that my broadband was apparently sending out "undesired packages". He claimed to be from BT’s Technical Department. When I inquired about his location, he mentioned London. However, my phone displayed "International Call" when it rang. Upon confronting him with this contradiction, he promptly ended the call. I may be getting on a bit, but I haven’t quite lost my marbles just yet! It does make one wonder, why isn’t BT tackling these sorts of scams more effectively?

Just got a call from this number a bit ago, some Asian lady going on about issues with my internet. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam so I just said I’m not interested and ended the call. If they keep calling back, I’ll just be more rude and blunt each time until they stop lol.

I received a rather dubious phone call from someone claiming to be from BT, insisting there was an issue with my computer. When I inquired about the number he was ringing from, he provided me with a number that didn’t seem right at all. Upon confronting him about the misrepresentation, he tried to excuse it by saying he’d given me the wrong one, promptly offering another number. At that moment, it became perfectly clear to me that I was dealing with a scammer, so I promptly terminated the call. After that, I used the 1471 service, which revealed this particular number. This morning, I received a call from this number, and it seems I've encountered it previously as well. I opted not to answer since as soon as I ascertain it’s a call centre, I tend to hang up immediately. Given the remarks I've come across on this site, I'm left pondering how these operations are still permitted to function. I was under the impression that the authorities were imposing fines on these organisations.

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming my BT ID had been compromised. Said they’d sent emails recently but hackers blocked me from seeing them. Bit unsettling how much they seemed to know about me. I told him to send any info by post and I’d look into it then. He was pretty persistent but wasn’t pleased that I wasn’t falling for it, reckon they won’t bother trying by post now. Been getting loads of calls with no number showing lately. Sometimes I mess with them if I’m feeling cheeky, but I can see how these calls could easily fool someone who’s not careful.

Just like the others, a bloke calling himself "Nigel" claimed to be from BT. Yeah, sure, more like Gupta! I told him, "Go on then, disconnect me." He sounded annoyed and said, "Enjoy your day without internet," then slammed the phone down. Honestly, these muppets deserve a serious talking to.

Earlier today, I received a rather dubious phone call from a chap who seemed to have an Indian accent. He claimed to be from BT and ominously informed me that my internet service would be disconnected in just an hour's time. When he asked, "Are you aware of that?" I simply replied, "I think you've got the wrong number, my friend," before promptly hanging up. As a result, I've now barred that number from calling again. Just like others said, some asian bloke rings up saying he’s from BT, threatening to cut off my internet and all that. But if they’ve got a phone number, why can’t the police find these scammers and put a stop to it? And why doesn’t BT do anything? Surely it’s hurting their name as well.

Received a call yesterday claiming to be from BT, warning me that my wifi was about to be disconnected because of supposed hackers. The whole conversation felt dubious at best, and their grasp of basic internet and wifi concepts was surprisingly poor for a company like BT. In the end, I decided to end the call. Received a call earlier today, and they hung up on me. Then they called back, hurling all sorts of insults and calling me names. Quite the pleasant conversation, I must say!

Just to update everyone on the call that started with 'We had a phone call this morning'. It's now gone 4:30pm and he still hasn't phoned back. He probably realised we'd suss it was a scam. What a muppet. If this number rings you, beware, it's definitely a scam!

This morning I got a call from a bloke with a Pakistani accent claiming he was from BT. He said our line was corrupted and that they'd have to switch off our internet for 30 days to fix it. He wanted me to open my laptop, but I told him we were just about to leave. He kept pushing and said 'It has to be sorted right now.' I asked him how I could be sure it was legit, and he said he’d give me his details as proof. We said no and he said he’d ring back in a few hours. Then the call just dropped. After looking it up, it’s clear it was a scam.

Got a call today from an Asian lady claiming to be from BT. She said my internet hub had issues and it would stop working the next day. Then she asked if I could get on my computer. It smelt like a scam trying to get remote access. Told her BT don’t do these calls and then ended the call.

I must say, my phone with the BT number blocking feature does a brilliant job of silencing those pesky callers. It’s rather amusing, really, especially considering their boast that they’re affiliated with BT. Quite the farce, if you ask me!

Got a call today from an Asian lady claiming to be from BT, saying my internet hub had issues and that I'd lose service by tomorrow. She then asked if I could log into my PC. Definitely a scam to try and grab control of your device. I told her straight up it was a scam and BT wouldn’t do that, then ended the call.

A bloke called saying he was from BT and that my internet would be disconnected for 5 days (I knew straight away it was a scam). I told him I honestly didn’t mind. He seemed a bit puzzled by my reply, and I could hear him whispering to someone nearby after I said I didn’t own a laptop or computer - even though he asked me that about 4 times. Then he just hung up! Don’t get caught out by this!

I recently received a call from a woman insisting that my internet service was about to be terminated. I replied that if that were true, I'd simply reach out to my service provider for assistance. She claimed they wouldn't assist me, to which I disagreed, and she swiftly redirected the conversation. She pressed me to activate some device, but when I politely declined, she asked me to say it again! In the end, I requested a number to return her call, and after a bit of muddled speech, I managed to jot down 02032899604.

This afternoon, just after half past twelve, a woman rang me from this number claiming to be from BT. She stated that my internet connection was at risk of being terminated due to security concerns! Just as she was about to launch into further instructions, I decided to hang up the phone.

They phone me about three times a month, usually twice within an hour on the first day, then one call the next day. No messages left on the answerphone. Whenever I pick up, it’s just silence on the other end.

Got another right annoying nuisance call, this time at 2:45pm on Friday 25th August on our home phone. Some daft bloke with a foreign accent trying to scam us by pretending to be from BT. We told him off straight away and have blocked the number on our phone. THE GOV NEEDS TO SORT THESE CALLS OUT. 01398774762.

Got a call from this number claiming to be BT but we actually use Plusnet! They tried to convince me to let them remotely access my computer, so I pretended to go along with it while I secretly looked up the commands they kept asking me to enter. As I was reading about how the scams work, he kept pushing me to press the keys and I kept saying I was, which really annoyed him!! ;-) Eventually I just ended the call.

It's a dodgy scam, to be sure... However, if you're savvy with technology, feel free to indulge in their foolishness. Honestly, it's quite a blessing that there are dimwits out there; it certainly provides some amusement for the clever ones among us!

Earlier today, a rather young woman contacted me claiming that my internet access was at risk of termination within the next few hours due to multiple hacking attempts on my line. She then proceeded to transfer me to her so-called manager. They requested that I install TeamViewer on my device, which raised my suspicions. When I asked for a contact number for BT, the supposed supervisor provided me with a number, instructing me to request a certain Danial Morris. However, when I tried the number, it turned out to be invalid. A quick check on this site revealed that it’s all a scam. Stay vigilant, folks!

I received a call from a chap with a really strong accent who insisted that my internet connection was set to be terminated the following day. Given that BT OpenReach is apparently busy with some local projects, it did sound somewhat believable. Despite my reservations and mentioning that I thought it might be a scam, he kept pressing me. However, thanks to this website, I've now confirmed it was indeed a scam.

I only caught the tail end of his conversation, so I requested he repeat it. However, he hung up before I could get a full grasp, yet my phone still logged the message. When I dialled 1471, it provided me with the number that had just called. Cheers for the assistance!

Received a call from this number on 24th August 2017. It's the second occasion I've experienced this sort of thing. This time around, I decided to confront them directly, telling them I was well aware they were trying to pull a fast one. I even asked if they truly wanted to carry on with the charade. Surprisingly, the woman simply replied with a 'no'! I'd recommend you take a similar approach if they reach out to you.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from BT's technical team, stating they needed to cut off my internet for maintenance. I found it rather odd since I had spoken to BT just the day before and they hadn’t mentioned a thing about it. As soon as I pointed that out, the line went dead-very suspicious!

Yesterday and then again today around 2 pm, I received a call from this number. I felt quite uneasy during the first call, as they claimed I had issues with my internet. I informed them that I hadn’t received any alerts from BT, which prompted me to hang up. I promptly contacted BT to report the incident, and they clarified that no one from their team had phoned me, plus my internet was functioning perfectly fine. Then lo and behold, the same number rang again today, so I was prepared! I asserted that they weren’t affiliated with BT since I had verified this the day before. He attempted to persuade me otherwise, but I didn’t let him continue and simply cut the call. What an inconvenience! It’s truly alarming to think that some individuals might fall victim to this scam!

Just like many others here, we’ve been having some annoying issues with BT internet recently, so I ended up staying on the call a bit longer than I normally would because the timing was just weird with all the problems lately. When I asked the caller to verify our account number, they quickly hung up.

This number's called me quite a few times. I keep giving them different answers just for a bit of fun since it's a quiet day at work, and it's hilarious to hear them get all mixed up. My favourite is pretending to be BT services - that really throws them off, haha. Total rubbish scammers, honestly.

Had a so-called BT technician ring me up-an Asian chap with quite the thick accent, mind you. He announced that my internet service would be disrupted for the next five days! I couldn't help but scoff at the absurdity of it all, and just like that, he cut the line on me. For those who might be uncertain, these characters tend to be quite forceful in their approach, and there's always this oddly distracting background din that makes it clear they’re not from a reputable company. They hardly ever provide any form of identification, nor do they even bother to inquire about which provider you’re using. It's best to either hang up straightaway or lead them on for a bit just to throw them off. Rest assured, BT themselves wouldn’t dream of reaching out to customers out of the blue like that!

I've yet to ascertain if this number is a scam or not. They call me roughly three times daily but always disconnect before engaging in conversation. It does make one ponder, with all our advanced technology, why it's so challenging to trace these calls, block them, and, if needed, take legal action against those with nefarious intentions. Just something to mull over, really.
