Total scam! Got a call saying “Emergency, mum! Use this new number to WhatsApp me.” They try and freak you out by pretending your kid’s in danger, just to get your info or cash. Best thing to do is just ignore it, report the number and block straight away.

Just got a message from someone saying their phone is broken and to text them on a different number. It was like, "Hi mum, my phone's completely smashed, so I'm texting you from a mate's phone but it's nearly dead. Can you message me on WhatsApp at 07466139852?" Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call earlier on from this number, some woman with a weird accent kept calling me "Ma’am" which really annoyed me. Claimed she was from BT and warned my internet would be disconnected unless I verified my info, blaming some BT issue beyond their control. I told her I don’t even use the internet and just hung up. I’m sure she’ll ring again though... it’s wild how these scammers keep pestering people even though I’m on the TPS list 😠

Same old story: a woman with an Asian accent (not sure if it was Indian or maybe from Thailand or the Philippines) claiming to be from BT internet, saying there's an issue with my connection or something. I told her I needed to check with "my IT guy" and asked if there was a number he could contact her on. She gave me 0203 289 9604 (might be worth checking that one out?) and then I just hung up. I don’t even have BT internet, but that doesn’t stop them. Can't imagine the trouble if I’d actually gone along with what they said.

Got a call earlier today from a woman who sounded Asian, but her accent was so thick I could hardly understand her. She said her name was Jenny Smith, which made me burst out laughing. I told her to call me Manjit instead (not my actual name either). Honestly, it's not a joke - these folks are scammers and just looking to con people. Got another call from 01398 774762, same old thing but felt a bit more clever this time. I told them I use a Mac and they didn’t seem bothered at all. When the chat moved onto firewall stuff and IP addresses I just said I wasn’t interested in continuing and they just hung up on me. Tried ringing the number back and it just comes up as unrecognised.

Got a call from this number saying BT was going to cut my internet for 20 days. I told them I’m not with BT. They just said it didn’t matter and asked me to press some code on my phone to fix it! I just ended the call right away. It showed as a UK number but seemed like it was definitely from some call centre in India 🙄 watch out, people!

Got a call earlier from this number, some bloke saying my internet was sending out "unwanted packages" and that he was with BT's tech support. When I asked where he was calling from, he said London, but my phone showed it was an "International Call". Asked him about that and he just cut me off. Got a call from an Asian guy claiming my BT ID had been compromised. Said they’d sent emails recently but hackers blocked me from seeing them. Bit unsettling how much they seemed to know about me. I told him to send any info by post and I’d look into it then. He was pretty persistent but wasn’t pleased that I wasn’t falling for it, reckon they won’t bother trying by post now. Been getting loads of calls with no number showing lately. Sometimes I mess with them if I’m feeling cheeky, but I can see how these calls could easily fool someone who’s not careful.

Just like the others, a bloke calling himself "Nigel" claimed to be from BT. Yeah, sure, more like Gupta! I told him, "Go on then, disconnect me." He sounded annoyed and said, "Enjoy your day without internet," then slammed the phone down. Honestly, these muppets deserve a serious talking to.

I got a call twice from a man. First time, I said thanks but no thanks and hung up straight away. Then he phoned again, begging me not to hang up because apparently someone was trying to hack my internet, so I listened. He claimed he was calling from a provider, but I told him I wasn’t with them. He insisted that they provided my line and urged me not to hang up. He asked how many gadgets I had online, I guessed a number, and when he asked if I did online banking, I told him no. Then he wanted me to turn on one of the devices, but I refused and ended the call. It’s scary hearing about these scams and it stressed me out. My son, who lives far off, told me to look up the number online and that’s why I’m sharing this here. Something really needs to be done, especially for older people like us.

Someone calling with what sounded like an Indian accent claimed to be from BT. He told me my internet would be cut off in an hour and asked if I knew about it. This morning I got a call from a bloke with a Pakistani accent claiming he was from BT. He said our line was corrupted and that they'd have to switch off our internet for 30 days to fix it. He wanted me to open my laptop, but I told him we were just about to leave. He kept pushing and said 'It has to be sorted right now.' I asked him how I could be sure it was legit, and he said he’d give me his details as proof. We said no and he said he’d ring back in a few hours. Then the call just dropped. After looking it up, it’s clear it was a scam.

Got a call from this number claiming to be BT but we actually use Plusnet! They tried to convince me to let them remotely access my computer, so I pretended to go along with it while I secretly looked up the commands they kept asking me to enter. As I was reading about how the scams work, he kept pushing me to press the keys and I kept saying I was, which really annoyed him!! ;-) Eventually I just ended the call.

Got a call from 01398774762 sayin my internet with BT would be cut off for 7 days. I don't even have BT so it was a bit annoying. I just ended the call but I really wish these calls would just stop. I've put my number on the preference list but these keep coming through anyway.

Got a call from an Indian woman claiming she was from BT and that my internet was hacked and would be cut off for a month. Yeah right! Hung up straight away and checked with BT online. Total scam, obviously.

A young woman rang me saying my internet was about to be disconnected within hours because there had been multiple hacking attempts on my line. Then she brought on someone she claimed was her supervisor. They tried to get me to install teamviewer. I asked for a contact number to reach BT and they gave me one, saying to speak to a bloke called Danial Morris. When I tried calling, it was nowhere to be found. Looked it up here afterwards and realised it’s a scam. Watch out!

They called sayin our internet was going to get cut off and mentioned bt since that’s who we use, but I wasn’t convinced coz they never asked for my name or anything like that. So I flagged it as a scam just to be safe.

Some bloke with a really strong accent called me saying my internet would be shut down the next day, mentioning loads of work being done nearby by BT OpenReach, which sounded quite believable. I mentioned straight away I thought it was dodgy, but he kept on going anyway. Glad I found this website, cos it confirmed it was definitely a scam.

I only caught a bit of what he was saying and asked him to say it again, but he hung up. Still, the phone kept picking up a message. I checked 1471 and it showed this number just called me. Cheers for the assist!

Got a call from them on 24/08/17, which was actually the second time I’d been bothered by this. When they rang again, I told the woman straight up that I was aware they were scammers and asked if they really wanted to keep going. She quickly said 'no' and hung up. Honestly, I’d recommend you try the same approach.

I got a call from someone claiming to be BT's tech support saying they had to cut my internet off for a bit. When I told them I'd spoken to BT just the day before and nobody said anything about that, the person just ended the call straight away...

Some bloke saying he’s from BT kept going on about my internet not working and wanted to control my laptop remotely. I pretended to go along with it for a bit, then told him to shove off after about five minutes. He just told me to “go f##k yourself, you lucky lady.” Lovely chap.

Got a call from some Asian internet scammer pretending to be BT. Told her to wait a sec and she just hung up straight away.

Got a call from this number, some guy claiming to be from BT saying my internet was gonna be disconnected today. When I told him I wasn't buying any of it and called him out for scamming, he got really rude. I just hung up and let him ramble on alone.

This number rang me yesterday afternoon and then again today near 2 pm. I felt a bit uneasy when I picked up yesterday because they claimed there was a fault with my internet. I told them BT hadn't sent me any alert about that and ended the call. Right after, I called BT to double-check and they confirmed no one from their side had contacted me and there was no issue with my connection. When they called again today, I was prepared! I told the caller they weren’t from BT, having verified it all yesterday. He tried to convince me otherwise, but I just hung up on him. What a hassle! It’s really sad that some folks might fall for these dodgy scams.

Saw I'd missed a couple of calls from this number when I got back today. Rang back but it didn’t go through, said number wasn’t valid or something. After reading the reviews here, I’m definitely blocking it now. Cheers for the heads up!

Just like many others here, we’ve been having some annoying issues with BT internet recently, so I ended up staying on the call a bit longer than I normally would because the timing was just weird with all the problems lately. When I asked the caller to verify our account number, they quickly hung up.

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent saying she was from BT about our internet. She'd also called an hour before but was silent the whole time. I told her we don’t use BT and don’t even have internet, then I just ended the call. I’ve also reported that silent call to OFCOM.

This number's called me quite a few times. I keep giving them different answers just for a bit of fun since it's a quiet day at work, and it's hilarious to hear them get all mixed up. My favourite is pretending to be BT services - that really throws them off, haha. Total rubbish scammers, honestly.

Got a call from this number earlier today. A lady with an Asian accent claimed she was from BT. I told her I was tied up and ended the call. Looked up the number here and it really showed I did the right thing by not staying on the line.

Some bloke claiming to be a BT engineer, sounded Asian and had a really thick accent, called me sayin my internet was gonna be off for five days. I told him to stop being daft and he just dropped the call straight away. If you’re unsure about calls like this, they often sound pushy and there’s always weird background noise you wouldn't expect on a proper company call. They don’t give you any ID or even ask who your provider is. Best thing? Just hang up on them or pretend to go along with it to mess about. BT themselves would never ring you outta the blue like this!

Ive had this number ring me around 3 times a day, yet every time they just hang up before sayin a word. Its weird how with all the tech out there they can’t seem to be tracked or blocked properly. Makes me wonder why no action is taken if it’s some sort of scam? Just something that’s been on my mind.

Got a call from this number at about 1:05 in the afternoon, same old rubbish. I kept them talking for around 10 minutes, then held the phone up to the smoke detector so they could hear some noise back.

Today at 1.45 I got a call from this number but it showed as international so I just ignored it. I never pick up calls from abroad or anyone I don’t know, if it’s important they can always leave a message, can’t they?
