Just got a text saying: FreeMsg - you’re now signed up for Totally Discounts, it’s £2.50 per message, up to 3 a month. Says to text stop to 80250 if I want out. Never signed up for this at all. Anyone know what this is about? The message also had some number like 01392953069 for help or something. Really annoying!

Today at about 4:15pm I got a message from 013929530691 saying there’s a 10% discount on Boohoo orders. The text had something about freemsg charging £2.50 per alert and to text 80250 to stop. I’m also on Tesco Mobile and saw someone else mentioned getting the same message. I’m a bit worried if these messages might be costing me anything even though I haven’t replied to them. Anyone else had this happen?

At the bottom of a message, it mentioned I signed up for "Totally Discounts" charging £2.50 each alert, with a maximum of three alerts monthly. When I called the provided number, there was no answer at all.

Never come across this before and definitely didn’t sign up for anything like it. I looked it up online and stumbled on this chat here. Planning to get in touch with Three about it first thing tomorrow. Haven’t replied to the message as I heard it might cost to text STOP. Proper scammers if you ask me.

I got a message saying I'd signed up for some Simmsy video thing that costs £4.50 every week, but I never did! It's a total scam. Don’t bother calling or texting them, they just try to rip you off. Best thing to do is tell your phone company straight away and get them to block spam stuff.

I’m not totally sure if this is a proper scam or just some dodgy browser ads signing people up without them knowing. I got a text from the same number and the company named i-simm ltd, based at 13 Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA. When I rang EE, they said I’d been signed up to a service, which is why there was a £4.50 charge. I told them I hadn’t signed up, so they blocked the number for me. EE also checked the shortcode 84509 and linked it to an Irish firm called Zamano, with a contact number 01223 590555, which they said wasn’t a premium rate. I called that number and gave my details, but they maintained I was signed up. I argued with them, and when I threatened to involve the police over what looked like taking money unfairly, they claimed I must’ve clicked on an advert by mistake. About ten minutes ago I got a text with a code, then another one about the service. After seeing what others wrote here, I called and spoke to a woman who noted down my name and number. She assured me I'd be taken off their list and said I wouldn’t be charged at all. Last year, similar messages caught me out and I ended up losing £45. When I contacted Vodafone, they told me there was nothing they could do about it.

I got in touch with EE about this and they advised me to call the landline number from the text, 01392953069. According to EE, once you receive the message, the fee is already applied - lovely. So, I phoned that number and ended up speaking to some young bloke named Elliot. He promised to take my details off their list but had no clue how I supposedly signed up (as if it happened while I was asleep). You have to ring them to cancel, or they keep charging you £4.50 every week for this service. Absolutely daft.
