I got an unexpected call just after lunch today. I opted not to pick up, and true to form, they didn’t bother leaving a message. Typical, really!

I picked up the phone only to be greeted by the sound of a busy call centre in the background before they abruptly disconnected. When I called back, it turned out to be some “solutions” firm dealing with government policies, presumably trying to help with debt write-offs. I mentioned to the chap I spoke to that I had answered their call, only to be met with silence, and expressed my annoyance that they disconnect when someone takes the trouble to answer a sales call. His response? A casual “can’t be arsed” - very professional indeed! I kept my tone calm, merely highlighting how they’re squandering people’s time; if someone goes to the effort to pick up the phone, the least they could do is say something. Yet another pointless company peddling rubbish related to writing off debts, when it's something we could sort ourselves without forking out a fortune to some clueless staff.
