I had a call saying my internet was being disconnected but the firm they claimed to represent wasn’t even the one I use! It’s terrible how common this is now, because like you said, some folks might get scared and keep talking, giving away stuff they shouldn’t or get charged loads. I worry most about older people though, they’re really easy marks for these sorts of scams.

some guy called saying he was peter from ‘your computer service company’ and started with “great to speak to you today.” when i called him out for being a scammer, he insisted he wasn’t and said i’d already paid for some computer support. but then i said i don’t even own a computer, and he just ended the call straight away. honestly, avoid this guy, total scam.
