I got a call from them claiming I was involved in a crash a couple of years back. I told them I’d never been in any accident. Then they insisted it must have been someone on my insurance. I explained I don’t even have insurance since I don’t drive. They then said someone must have listed me as an emergency contact. I told them I had no idea about that, and the only thing they said that made it sound real was that they knew my name.

Funny enough, I actually did have a mishap when my car slipped off the ramps and the door caught on some shelving, leaving a nasty dent. The lady on the phone started talking about making a third party claim, but I told her how do you claim against a wooden shelf? So this bloke rings up saying he’s calling about some bump I supposedly had?! I told him I haven’t been in any accidents or anything like that. He kept insisting I did and even claimed I reported it last week! I said, “No way, you’re not hearing me properly - I haven’t had any accidents, injuries, or been abducted by aliens or whatever!” Asked him to take me off their list. It drives me mad how these dodgy scammers keep using UK phone numbers from overseas call centres, pretending it’s an accident. This one supposedly from Dumfries is something I’ve not seen before. They’ve also used numbers from places like Glasgow, Edinburgh, London, and Southampton. They just won’t stop, do they? I reckon it’s worth going after the firms that lease out these number blocks, though the biggest one seems to be located in Ireland.
