Last evening, my mum received a rather dodgy phone call from someone masquerading as an employee of a life insurance firm, insisting they needed her debit card details. It's a classic scam, so do steer clear of these chancers!

My elderly mum, who is 90, got a call from this number. The person pretended to be from an insurance firm and tried to get her debit card details. Thankfully, she didn’t fall for it. When I tried ringing back, the number showed, but nobody picked up - just a Scottish woman’s voice saying no one was available to take the call.

I rang the number back and after a bit a woman with a Scottish accent picked up, saying no one was available to speak with me. Seems like it's a Dumfries number or something. Proper frustrating!
