I received a rather dubious automated call claiming to be from my internet service provider. The message ominously warned me that my broadband would be disconnected in 48 hours due to "suspicious activity." Now, while I’m 71, I’m far from naïve and instantly realised this was a con. They insisted I speak to some so-called executive and urged me to return their call. I can't help but think that someone less cautious might fall for this trap, potentially leading to hefty losses.
