I recently received a missed call from this number at 11:17 in the morning – just a single ring. From what I’ve gathered on various tracking sites, it appears to be linked to a PPI service trying to peddle their wares. Their system is designed to bombard people with countless calls each day, only to disconnect after one ring, cleverly avoiding the cost of the call. The unfortunate aim seems to be to lure unsuspecting individuals into ringing back, hoping they'll be enticed by their pitch. Sadly, the Telephone Preference Service can't put a stop to this, as it falls on businesses to ensure they're not contacting numbers on a do-not-call list. Therefore, if they haven't bothered to verify, it's a clear sign they're not trustworthy, so I'd advise against returning the call. Personally, I always save these numbers as new contacts with amusing names like "Nuisance" or "Dodgy Caller" to remind myself not to answer in the future.
