Somebody rang asking for a name I couldn’t even say properly. I asked “sorry, who?” and she just said oh maybe I’ve got the wrong number, I’ll take it off my list and then just hung up! My mate received a letter dated 20th November 2009, but here's the kicker-she doesn’t owe a single penny, doesn't have any credit cards, and, to top it all off, she doesn’t even reside at the address the letter was sent to! Got this letter supposedly from Virgin Media about some debt I supposedly owe, saying it’s a final demand. Thing is, I don’t owe anything and I reckon it’s a scam related to phone lines. The website they mention looks real enough, and you can even report it to an ombudsman or something. The letter itself is dodgy though - no proper signatures and the company logo in the bottom right is really badly printed. CSA or something like that. Definitely sketchy in my opinion.

Other individuals reporting similar experiences mentioned being quizzed about their neighbours (which suggests a tracing operation) or being pressured for bank details (indicative of debt collection). Since I have no debts and am not keen on sharing private information about my neighbours with strangers, I've decided to block this number altogether. Earlier on, a rather puzzling letter arrived at our place from some folks named Lewis Russell. They seemed to be expressing regret for intruding and were seeking information about a previous resident who used to live next door several years back. Oddly enough, the letter mentioned that all their prior attempts to reach the intended recipient had bounced back unopened. Curious enough, the envelope was addressed to "the occupier," yet clearly stamped as personal and confidential! After discussing it with my wife, I opted to tear it up and toss it away. They wanted my bank info and started yelling at me. I asked why they needed it and they said it was to confirm my account. When I said I’d just give them the last four digits, they shouted back, "Am I daft? I want your sort code and account number." I told them I wasn’t comfortable with that. Then they threatened to come round and smash down my door to grab all my stuff. I ended the call straight away.

I received a rather dubious message from someone claiming to be a 'Debt Collector' urging me to ring 01386 425400. At just 17 and still studying, I've never engaged in any borrowing or loans, so I can confidently assert that I have no debts hanging over me. Hello there! We recently received a correspondence that appears to echo what others have reported, mainly concerning a certain quote. My wife is convinced it’s a scam. It's worth mentioning that the company listed on the letterhead is actually a debt recovery agency, but it goes by a different name than the one stated in the letter. Got a call about some money I supposedly owe. They said they're from Capital Resolve Ltd. If you need to send them anything, their place is Fountain Court, Vale Park, Evesham, Worcs, WR11 1LS. Just a heads up in case you get the same.
