I got a call from a bloke with a strong American accent, claiming he was from Open Reach. He said my private internet was somehow public now and that he’d sort it out. I told him I’d get in touch with my provider instead, and then the call just dropped. Pretty obvious it was a scam.

Got a call on my home phone earlier today but didn’t pick up. I’m based in Yorkshire, so maybe they’ve started focusing on this region now. Lucky I looked up the number here first.

Bloody scammers! Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT Openreach, trying to switch my services from private to public. Didn’t buy it for a second. Number’s now blocked. Sounds like some foreign tricksters to me. Avoid at all costs!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Sky TV, sounded like he had an Indian accent. He said my internet’s been slow recently, was I aware of it? I told him it was working alright. Then he started asking about my mobile phone and if it was hooked up to the wifi. Felt a bit off, like he might try to put something dodgy on my phone, so I ended the call straight away. Just a heads up to be careful with calls like this!

I didn’t answer cos I didn’t know the number (it was around lunch on 12/4/24). Just checked it afterwards and wow, loads of folks have flagged it as dodgy. Really glad I ignored it. I’m labelling it as RISKY.

I received a rather dodgy call from someone claiming to be a BT technician, insisting there were problems with my internet connection. Quite the con artist, if you ask me!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from BT, telling me there was a fault with my internet. He then asked how many devices we had hooked up. I asked why he needed to know that and ended the call. Right after, he phoned back and started swearing at me, calling me all sorts of names. I just laughed and hung up straight away.

I asked them why dont they just find a proper job, and they just laughed saying why bother when they can rake in millions like this. Absolute scumbags. They keep calling, texting, emailing, and even posting fake letters all the time pretending to be from different firms. You cant even surf the net without getting flooded with ads these con artists put out.

Got a call earlier but no one said a word. Just silence on the other end. Bit weird really.

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT about an issue with my internet. I used to be an accountant for BT for three decades, so I asked what part of BT they worked for. They said the Technical Department at 81 Newgate St, but I knew BT had moved out of that place ages ago. As soon as I mentioned that, they hung up on me. Plus, the phone number wasn’t even from inner London, which made no sense if they were supposedly calling from Newgate St. Pretty clear this was a SCAM!

The phone's answer machine asked the caller to leave their name and number, but by then they’d already ended the call! I’ve blocked the number now after seeing it’s been reported before.

This bloke with an Asian accent rang me, claiming he was from BT, warning that someone was messing with my account. When I asked who the account was under, he actually gave the correct name! I said I’d ring BT myself to check, but before I did, I googled the number and, sure enough, it was a scam. Like one of the other comments said, just ask for the account number, and if they say they’re from Microsoft, tell them you use Apple instead. It’s a good way to catch them out.

Got a call from a lady with an accent, saying BT techs found someone messing with my phone line. I told her I’m not with BT, then she was really polite but I told her I thought it was a scam, so she just hung up. The number started with 01384, but I think she was calling from Ireland.
