Sounds like some fake robot bloke messing about, claiming to be from BT tech support. He warned me my internet’d get chopped in a day because my IP was supposedly hacked. Kept trying to get me to push buttons on the phone. Having a tape of the call wouldn’t have done much since it was probably just some AI voice.

Got a recorded call saying it was from BT tech support. They said my internet would get cut off today and told me to press 1 for assistance or 2 if I wanted to cancel the service. I just ended the call.
