So, this bloke rang me, claiming he was contacting me on behalf of EE to discuss an upgrade for my phone contract. The thing is, I’ve never been an EE customer; I’ve always stuck with O2. Seems pretty clear to me that it’s some sort of scam or trickery going on.

So this caller started talking about comparing the network and asked if I wanted to upgrade my 3 contract. Thing is, I dont even have a contract with 3. I told them I use Virgin Mobile, and then they tried to say Virgin’s got an upgrade offer as well. Bit sketchy if you ask me.

A woman called claiming she was from Compare the Business. When I asked her what the business was actually about, she seemed to get all muddled and then just ended the call.

Today I got a call on my mobile from 01384686925. It sounded local, so I picked up. A man with a bit of a poor grasp of English asked how my day was. Then he started asking about my EE account. I ended the call straight away since I’m not even with EE.

Got a call from some sales guy pushing a phone upgrade, kept going on about it even though I mentioned the TPS. He admitted that sometimes calls get through anyway. I didn’t waste any more time and just ended the call.

I had a rather dodgy call earlier from someone attempting to peddle a mobile phone upgrade. They were clearly aware of the Telephone Preference Service but had the audacity to say that “a handful always manage to get through.” That’s when I decided enough was enough and ended the conversation.
