I picked up my phone and got a recorded warning saying Amazon had taken money from me without permission, then it told me to press 2 to call them back. I pressed it knowing full well it was a scam, and someone actually answered. We talked briefly, and I asked which bank was involved. Without hesitation, he said Santander. Since I don’t have any accounts there, he was in trouble from the start. After a bit more chatting, he just hung up. I looked up the number he’d called from - it seemed local - but when I tried calling it back, the line was dead.
