Today I got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming to be from Opus Energy. He said there were some technical problems and wanted to verify my account number. He read out a legitimate customer number, asking me to confirm it, then gave a different number which was wrong. He kept insisting I provide the info, but I said no. Then a second guy, claiming to be a supervisor, came on and kept pushing for my account details. I still refused and ended the call, then blocked the number.

Had a call from some bloke claiming he was from British Gas, sounded like the same dodgy script as others have mentioned. Proper annoying and total time wasters, these muppets.

They claimed to be from my energy provider and after I gave them my correct name, they mentioned some kind of data glitch involving mpan numbers. They asked for loads of details from my bills. When I said I’d just ring up our actual supplier instead, they ended the call straight away.

got a call from someone saying they were with british gas about a problem with my meter, asking to check the meter number. that sounds off since bg, as my supplier, wouldnt ask stuff like that. checked with british gas myself and turns out it’s a scam. be careful, dont share any info with them.

Got a call from someone claiming to be my energy company, saying there was an issue with my bill and asked me to check the details. I mentioned I had a password set up for security with them, but the word they gave me was totally wrong. When I said that, they insisted they were right. I told them I'd ring my energy supplier myself, and then they just hung up on me. Definitely a scam!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Total Gas and Power, said they were having some tech issues and needed me to confirm my MPAN number. Told her to sort it out herself and check my old bills instead.

I received a call from this number today, and the chap on the other end claimed to be from British Gas. He proceeded to inquire about some of my bills and asked for sensitive personal information. When I requested to speak to his supervisor, he abruptly ended the call! Clearly a dodgy scheme.

Got a dodgy call claiming to be from npower. They said they needed to "update the system" and asked for my contract end date, supposedly to switch me to another broker. Total scam, watch out!
