I gave them a ring, but there was nothing but silence on the other end when I picked up.

English speaker, quite thoughtful, female. How on earth did she find out I had a car accident?! She ought to have a go at the lottery this week!

I picked up the call as I have relatives in Dundee, but it turns out it’s a dodgy number. I’ve since reported the scammer and blocked them.

I didn’t pick up since the number was unfamiliar, and they didn’t leave a voicemail either - so no clue who it was. I usually hang on to see if they leave a message when I don’t know the caller.

So, this caller rings up saying they’re doing a home survey and asks if I'm me. I respond by asking what the survey’s actually about before answering anything. They just say they need to confirm it’s me. I then ask again what the survey is for and tell them to drop the script and explain why they’re really calling. They say they don’t understand. I say I’m alright with doing a survey but don’t want to give out personal info identifying who I am. Then, they just hang up on me. Honestly, talk about being rude!

Got a text tellin me I missed a call, but I never got rung at all. Seems a bit dodgy to me.

The other day, my phone rang and I picked it up, greeted them with a "hello," yet there was only silence on the other end. A few seconds later, I caught a whisper of a voice, but it was just for a fleeting moment, too muffled to decipher. Then abruptly, the call ended. As I don’t have any acquaintances in Dundee, I suspect this was likely a scam attempt.

Sounds like a total rip-off to me - this person said they were from HMRC and threatened legal action over something. Definitely not legit.
