I received a call today from a lady named Alana, who was attempting to sell utilities. When I inquired about her understanding of Ofgem, she mentioned it was her first day on the job. She excused herself to fetch clarification but returned with an unsatisfactory response. In an attempt to provide a bit of guidance, I began to explain the nuances of the situation when Kirsty, identifying herself as Alana's line manager, barged in asking, "What's the issue?" I clarified that there was no dilemma on my end, only a desire to assist Alana in her learning process. I offered my help to Kirsty should she require it. She expressed her gratitude and promptly terminated the call. It’s disheartening that those representing the supplier aren't equipped with a fuller understanding than the customer.

This guy named Liam, with an African accent, rang me up. He was trying to get me to change my energy supplier to some company I’d never heard of - what he said wasn’t very clear, though. I was about to ask a few questions when the call just dropped. Strange!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Scottish Power, who said my tariff was set to go up loads. They asked what my current tariff was and wanted details off my bills. I was eating at the time, so asked them to ring back later. But then it clicked - if they were legit, they’d already know that info. Had a look at the number on here and decided to block it straight away.

Encountered a rather peculiar situation where I received a call regarding my gas supply. The only hitch is that I don't actually have any gas! The caller was quite dismissive and insisted on reaching out to me once more. She did ring me again, but I chose not to pick up. Quite the odd experience, if I must say!

Today I got a ring from 01382 250711, a woman with a Scottish accent said my Scottish Power deal was about to expire. She offered to check if there were better rates. I asked if she was actually from Scottish Power, but she said no, just a price comparison service. She then tried to find out what I was paying, I didn't give her any info and said I was tied up. She mentioned she'd call me back next week.

I got a call from someone with a thick Scottish accent, and they kept rambling on about my British Gas deal coming to an end soon, trying to make it sound like they were from British Gas. They wanted me to log into my online account so they could have a look and find me a better tariff. I told them I didn’t have my computer handy right now, so they said they’d ring me back later. But when I told them I could sort out my British Gas contract on my own, it soon dawned on me she was just a crafty scammer trying to pull a fast one.

Had the exact same thing happen with this number. It’s clearly a call centre from Dundee trying to trick you into changing your tariff. They rang me up three times over just a couple of days. When I checked with my provider, they warned me it sounded dodgy. I blocked the number straight away. Can’t believe they’re still ringing people though!

There was this noise in the background like a call centre and I could hear a Scottish accent too. I just didn’t say a word, instead I put the phone up to my smoke alarm and hit the button - wow, the noise was deafening! Fingers crossed they’ll remove me from their calling list now.

My mum got a ring today from this number. I couldn’t catch the caller but since she’s pretty hard of hearing, she just ended the call when she realised it was a stranger. Took a look at the number afterwards and blocked it right away after reading what others said. Cheers for the heads up!

Got a call at my place earlier today, the same old spiel about switching energy providers and hiking up my bills. I just ended the call straight away. My actual energy company confirmed this was a total scam. Seriously, if you get a call like this, just hang up immediately. A bit later, I got a text on my phone claiming to be from the energy company saying they knew I’d moved and to ring an 0800 number. The number they gave was once theirs but isn’t used anymore. I reckon these two dodgy attempts are connected. Stay sharp, folks!

Picked up and said, "this is [my name]". An Asian-sounding guy asked, "are you Mr [my name]?" I said, "yes I am," then he just ended the call. After reading other people's experiences with this number, I reckon it's dodgy. They pretend to be from an energy company and will likely try to get your bank info for a direct debit soon. Best thing is to just ignore it and block the number straight away!

I keep getting calls from this number loads of times every day. I finally picked up once and they said they were from EDF trying to offer a better deal before prices go up, but then they admitted they weren’t actually EDF. When I said I wasn’t interested, they just kept ringing, proper annoying. Sometimes if I answer, they just hang up straight away or call a few times then stop for a bit. It’s been happening for days now and I’m about to block this number completely.

I've had the same number ring me thrice already! On the third occasion, my husband picked up, and they claimed our fixed gas and electricity deal was coming to an end. He promptly hung up, as we’re well aware that if there was any change, our actual provider would notify us via an official call or letter - and I know their number off by heart, which certainly isn’t this one! Isn’t it against the law to make these nuisance calls?

Got a call from a woman with a Scottish accent, wanted to chat about my wife's gas and electricity bills. She kept wanting to speak just to her and wasn't having a word with me. When I mentioned I'm hearing impaired and asked her to be clearer, she hung up on me quite suddenly.

Just had a call from this number (which popped up on my phone) around 6:47pm on Wednesday, 5th February '19. The caller, claiming to be from EON in Ireland, mentioned something about setting me up with a new tariff for my energy bills, as my previous one was about to expire. I explained that I was unavailable to chat at that moment and asked for her name and a number to call back. She introduced herself as Miss Asher (or it might have been Usher), but rather frustratingly, she didn’t provide me with her contact number. She mentioned she would try to reach me again tomorrow. I won't be answering, but I might just give EON a ring to verify this.

I got a call from a woman who said she was with Bulb Energy, which we use already. She told me there was a cheaper deal available for us. I said I was tied up and not interested, but she kept pushing and said she'd ring back another time. I reckon she might have been trying to sell for another energy company. When I called Bulb myself, they told me they don’t do cold calls and only offer one tariff.
