8 yearsLike the review from 15/9/2018 mentioned, this was definitely a scam call.8 yearsOn 30th August 2018, around 4pm, I got a call from someone named Peter claiming to be from BT's investigation team. He had a noticeable foreign accent and there was a lag in his voice. He asked if we were familiar with a John Cole and mentioned that our IP address had apparently been accessed from the USA. He insisted we turn on a computer or laptop so he could guide us through checking the IP address. When I said I only had a tablet, he asked me to switch that on instead to show me. Seemed pretty professional, but we ended the call.PeterBTJohn ColeUnited States8 yearsSo, I got a call from 01379870765 and the guy on the line had a foreign accent, saying he was with BT broadband security. He started asking if I knew anyone in California or if I'd recently been there, saying my internet was hacked and I had to log onto my computer to fix it. I just ended the call straight away! Do you reckon it was a scam or was it legit?California8 yearsSome bloke rang claiming to be an officer from BT investigations. I didn’t buy it for a second and told him to jog on before blocking the number straight away.BT8 yearsI chose not to pick up and after seeing everything here, I’m actually relieved. Folks like that deserve to be shut down. It’s a pity my home phone doesn’t let me block calls!8 yearsThis bloke claimed he was from Microsoft and asked me for my number. When I gave him one, he tossed back some dodgy details and a fake number. I did a 1471 check and the number he gave didn't match the one that popped up at all. Honestly, this should be illegal, because it was so obviously a scam.Microsoft8 yearsGot a call from 01379870765 the other day. Honestly, whoever works there really needs to figure out which company they’re representing - could be BT or maybe Virgin Media, not sure. Either way, they defo need to find a proper job and sort their life out.BTVirgin Media8 yearsGot a robo call saying it was from my phone and internet company warning me service would be disconnected in 2 days. Didn’t bother pressing anything, just ended the call.8 yearsGot a call saying something about my internet, but as soon as I asked for more info they just ended the call.8 yearsSomeone rang, saying they were from Virgin Media security, which felt odd since I’m based in Hull and we only get internet through KCom here. They told me my internet and IP Address were being used by folks abroad. I asked them to tell me my IP Address and they gave me a number; I told them it wasn’t mine. They kept insisting my internet was compromised. I kept saying that can’t be right because that’s not my IP. They just stuck to their script about the compromise. After the fourth or fifth time I said it wasn’t possible since that’s not my IP, they disconnected.Virgin MediaHullKCom8 yearsI got a call from a really polite bloke who kept addressing me as M'am! He claimed to be from Virgin Media and said my internet had been hacked by someone named John Cole - I had never heard of the guy. He then warned me that my internet would be cut off in 10 days if I didn’t do something.
