I got a call claiming I was due compensation for some accident I never had. They were asking if I'd got the cheque, then tried to sound like they were from some sort of ‘no win, no fee’ type firm. Luckily I didn’t go any further to see if they'd want cash upfront or my bank info. Honestly, if just a handful of people a week fall for it, they must be making a tidy sum to afford all these callers messing about.

These automated calls are driving me mad. How on earth are they getting hold of our numbers? The government really should crack down on cold calling, or better yet, ban it completely. It’s high time telemarketing and telesales were made illegal - they’re just a nuisance.
