I got a call from a guy who sounded quite posh, saying he wasn’t just cold calling but doing some research because local energy firms apparently have been using a lot of fuel. When I asked where he got my number from, he dodged the question. Then I wanted to know which companies he meant, and after a bit of silence, he ended up hanging up on me.

They claimed to be "local energy consultants," even though they’re actually about 70 miles away - somewhere near Peterborough, like another person mentioned here. I told them I’m on the TPS list and asked why they were ringing me. The guy said sorry and promised not to call again, but they rang back the very next day from 01348800107. Absolute muppets, just scammers!!!!

My elderly mum, who’s 80, got a call on her home phone from this horrible individual, and when she asked where they got her number from, they just ended the call straight away.

Some bloke kept rattling on to my missus, trying to get us to confirm personal info and then just went straight into a spiel about loft conversions without giving her a chance to say she wasn’t interested. They were using our number even though we’re on the do-not-call list and unlisted directory - totally dodgy from the start. Yesterday, I flagged a different 020 number from what sounded like the same nonsense mob. I’m definitely gonna keep reporting them to all the forums I can until the proper watchdogs finally take action on these shady practices!

Got a call from 01372700279, I didn’t pick up so it went to voicemail. The line stayed open though, with just the noise of someone shuffling papers and letting out big sighs. I usually don’t pick up on unfamiliar numbers, so this one’s now blocked. I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting loads more calls like this over the next few weeks. It’s well annoying!

Got a call from 01372700279, someone wanting to speak to the house owner claiming to be from an energy company. I got a weird feeling it was a scam, so I hung up straight away. About 15 minutes later, they rang back and asked me if I was still the house owner. I told them I’m not, and they just said thanks and ended the call. My mum passed away just before Christmas and the estate is with my brother as executor. Honestly, these people are so cruel.

Some bloke called Gordon claiming to be my energy rep from Esher. He began quizzing me about my house, but when I said I wasn’t going to answer any of it, he just hung up. I gave him a buzz back, but he’s blocked my number. Funny thing is, my actual energy rep is nowhere near here - about 150 miles away! Best to block this one.

I wasn’t quite sure if it was a man or some sort of automatic voice, but the bloke - sounded like his name was Mark, spoken really quickly with a British accent - claimed 'this isn't a cold call, it’s about your property.' I just ended the call straight away. Definitely a scam!

I’m pretty sure this is one of those energy or loft insulation scams everyone’s been talking about. They’ve called me a couple times before, always bringing up loft or energy stuff. This last time, it was just completely silent. I called back with my number hidden, but it didn’t even ring, just went straight to an answerphone saying the inbox was full. Be careful if you get a call from them.

I got a call from this number about my loft insulation and double glazing. The person on the phone was talking super fast and didn’t even let me get a word in. When I tried to ask something, they just kept on going, saying they’d send an engineer over. I told them no and ended the call. Feels like a total scam to me. Watch out for this one!

Oddly enough, I decided to answer the phone even though the number was unfamiliar. The person on the line was a bloke with a British accent, claiming to be my local energy agent. His first question was whether I still owned the house. I said I wasn’t answering any questions, and he hung up straight away. I live in Peterborough, yet this so-called local energy guy was calling from Esher. Strange, right? I’d recommend blocking this number. When I tried ringing back, it just wouldn’t go through - said something like “this number can’t accept any more calls.” Pretty clear this was a scam.
