This morning I got woken up at 4.35am because a number almost the same as 01372 379379 rang me five times! My phone is usually on silent from half past ten at night till seven in the morning, so you can imagine I wasn’t too happy about the early disturbance.

Someone called claiming to be with BT, telling me my internet was under attack by hackers. They insisted I plug in a device and promised to walk me through fixing it so no one was using my connection without permission. Luckily, my lad looked up the number online and soon figured out it was a con.

Loads of people seem to be moaning about this number and quite a few others as well. Luckily, there’s a simple fix that costs nothing! If you’ve got a BT line, you can use BT Call Protect. Just ring 1572 to turn it on. They might try ringing once more, but after you block them, you won’t hear from them again. Easy as that!

Definitely a scam call. The line was really scratchy and the person speaking was hard to understand with awful pronunciation. She started talking about my BT broadband having issues, said hackers were involved, and that I needed to enable something on my broadband so she could help. When I asked for a contact number, she just gave me BT’s official customer service number. Then, when I asked her name, she instantly hung up.
