So yesterday, 16/02/2024, I got a call from 01371 879427. The voice sounded like one of those robot messages that usually leave voicemails on landlines, but this one was all distorted. It claimed to be Barclays Bank and told me to verify two withdrawals from my account. I just hung up straight away and rang the bank myself. They confirmed it was definitely a scam and no such withdrawals were made. What’s really unsettling is that the 01371 code is for Dunmow, Essex - basically my own area! It made me feel really uneasy.
