I received a rather dubious call from someone who said he was representing Open Reach, insisting that I needed to upgrade my router to a 5G model. He went on about certain "unusual" data on my computer that was supposedly affecting my router's performance. To me, it felt like a cover story, likely aiming to trick me into giving him remote access to my machine. Quite the shady character, if you ask me!

Got a call from this number and it was a total scam, the bloke on the other end told me to basically get lost as soon as I called it out as a scam.

I got a call really early in the morning, I was still in bed and it woke me up, but I didn’t pick up. Seems like they might be trying to catch folks when they’re not fully awake, probably some trick scammers use to catch you out!

On the 19th of April 2022, at around 2:40 pm, I got a call from 01371873425. A man, maybe with an Asian accent, asked for me by name. When I asked who was calling, he said he must have dialled the wrong number. So, I reckon if I’d sounded confused or a bit doddery, he might’ve been trying to pull a scam on me. I’ve got to say, the BBC’s scam interceptors programme is really doing a good job at tackling these sorts of callers. Big thumbs up to the team behind it!

Somebody rang me saying they were with Openreach, offering to upgrade my router to 5G. They also mentioned there was some "unusual data" coming from my device. I kept questioning them about it, and they struggled to give clear answers. Then they handed me over to a bloke who wanted me to install some programme. I obviously refused. After that, he got annoyed, told me I'd wasted his time, and just ended the call.
