I got a call the other day on my unlisted landline from someone with a South Asian accent, background noise made it obvious it was a call centre. They claimed to be from Sky and started asking about problems with my internet speed or connection. Then they wanted to know if I had a computer or laptop and how many gadgets were connected. I pretended to go along with it until they told me to get on my computer and log in. That’s when I told them I knew it was dodgy, since I’d already confirmed with Sky through Facebook before.

I got a call on my unlisted landline from someone with an Indian or Pakistani accent, and you could hear a bit of a call centre ruckus in the back. They claimed to be from Sky and wanted to know if I was struggling with slow internet or connection issues. They asked what devices I had, like a laptop or PC, and how many gadgets were hooked up to the WiFi. I humoured them until they told me to sit at my computer and start logging in. That’s when I told them I wasn’t falling for it, having already checked with Sky through their Facebook page before and knowing it was a scam.
