I got a call from someone saying they were with BT’s tech support, telling me my broadband was being used by someone in the States. I've had loads of calls like this before, and when I start questioning them, they start swearing and just hang up on me! Feels like the same lot who used to pretend to be from Microsoft. It’s obviously a scam, and they don’t seem like they’ll give up easily. I’ve already reported it to Ofcom and fraud.uk, so fingers crossed they do something.

I’ve started recognising this number and the scam behind it, so I just block it straight away now. The area code gave me a clue too. Pretty sure it’s one of those Microsoft scam calls everyone’s been warning about - you know, the Microsoft Mob mentioned before. Definitely don’t answer if it rings!

I got a call from someone speaking with a faraway Asian accent, asking how I was and saying it was about my internet. I didn’t stick around to hear more. (Why is it that these calls always seem to come when you’re really trying to focus on something important?)

Got a ring from a Dereham number, 01953696428. When I picked up, the person on the other end kept just saying “hello”, like they couldn’t actually hear me. Tried ringing back, at first it was busy but then I heard some kind of recorded message which sounded like a scam call warning or monitoring message. Eventually it went to an answerphone, so I left a message asking them to call back. Going by all this, I’m pretty sure it’s one of those scam calls.

I can relate! I recently received a call informing me that someone abroad is attempting to access my internet. They wanted to know if I had granted them any sort of permission. It struck me as rather odd, so I simply hung up.

Some bloke rang up saying he was from BT about my broadband, telling me folks in California were messing about with my connection. I was pretty sceptical straight away, but let it go on for a bit. When he started asking for my IP address, I just told him to jog on and hung up.

17/6/23. Got a call that sounded just like the ones others have described. This bloke with an Asian accent claimed he was phoning from BT, saying my IPR number had been spotted being used out in California. When I asked where he was ringing from, he said London. I called him out, told him he was a bloody scammer, but he kept insisting he was legit. In the end, I didn’t hold back and told him exactly what I thought of him.

This person called claiming to be from BT, saying my router got hacked like six weeks ago. They asked if I was near my computer or laptop. I just said no, then they wanted me to go to my computer, but I told them I don't have one. I figured it was a scam and ended the call. Seriously, don't trust them or do what they say!

Received a call from 01362 696428, a bloke with an Asian accent warning me that hackers had broken into my BT internet and were using it for some dodgy stuff out in California. He made it sound urgent that I needed to deal with it straight away. When I asked a few questions, he told me he was from the “Internet department” and gave an address in London - 81 Newgate Street, said his name was Jake Watson. As soon as I mentioned I’d ring BT internet myself to check, he didn’t sound very happy.

So I got a call from some people who said they were from BT tech support, but they came up with these really silly English names. Pretty sure they're just some scammers from Asia trying to trick you into letting them control your computer. Watch out, it's a total con!

This thing is getting ridiculous. It's supposedly BT Tech Support. I keep hanging up and blocking the number, but then an hour later they ring again from almost the exact same number, just one digit off. I'm running out of spots to block numbers because of it. Proper annoying!

There was loads of noise in the background, like loads of people chatting really loudly. When I told her I couldn’t hear properly, she got even louder and asked if it was clearer now. I just said it wasn’t much of an improvement and I probably didn’t want to listen to whatever she was saying, then I ended the call.
