Got a recorded call trying to sell me broadband, sounded like one of those dodgy scam things.

some bloke pretending to be from ‘ofcom communications’ called me about a problem with my broadband security. i kept him on the phone just for a bit of fun. he kept asking whether i was on a desktop or a laptop, and i kept saying ‘i’m talking to you on my phone mate’. this went around for a while before he finally gave up and ended the call. honestly, just wasted his time and had a good chuckle out of it, so that’s a win for me! what’s the point of these lot anyway, absolute muppets.

I just had one of those dodgy calls too. A creepy recorded voice with a British accent said it was Ofcom. Honestly, these scam artists don’t even do their research properly. Why on earth would the communications watchdog ring up about your broadband? They said they’d transfer me to some 277 number, so I ended it and blocked the caller straight away. I also called an elderly mate of mine, she’s 86 and gets anxious about these sorts of calls. Turns out she’d had the exact same call earlier! Luckily, she remembered what I told her before and hung up straightaway.

Got a call from someone pretending to be ‘Ofcom Communications’ saying there was a problem with my broadband security. I kept them on the phone just for the banter. They kept asking if I was on a laptop or desktop, and I kept saying ‘I'm just speaking to you on my phone’. This little back and forth went on for a while until they finally gave up and hung up. Honestly, it was a bit of fun and a waste of their time, which I call a win. Seriously, what’s the point of these idiots?

Hi, was asked once if I was Mr Davis by someone claiming he was Keith Lee from BT technical team™. I replied, ‘Keith, since when did you move to India? That doesn’t sound like an Indian name, mate.’ He hung up right away after that, no idea why.

got a call about some compulsory ofcom broadband update, really irritating. I just hung up and put the number on my block list. it's getting ridiculous now, these calls keep popping up every single day. how come they haven't found a way to stop this by now? technology should be able to handle it. i can only block about 30 numbers and i'm nearly full up. what am i supposed to do once i've reached my limit?

Got a call from a number starting with 1g, and right away I thought it might be another scam. At first, there was this recorded voice in English, sounded like an automated message for some channel or something. Then suddenly, without me pressing any buttons like they asked, a foreign voice came on the line. I didn’t say a word back, and after that, they just hung up.

I got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from Ofcom, telling me there's a compulsory broadband upgrade. It was clearly a scam, so I just hung up straight away.

Got a call from some automated voice saying it was Ofcom about a required broadband update. They told me to wait to speak to one of their 'officers' but I just ended the call. This was the second time in about 15 minutes I had a broadband-related call, from a different number before. Feels like a scam to me!

11:45 and they ring again, just like the others mentioned here. Such a nuisance!

Saw a missed call from this number, so I had to find out who it was. After looking it up, I'm happy I didn’t pick up. Definitely not answering if they call back!

Got a call from someone saying it was about a “compulsory Ofcom update for home broadband.” They warned that my broadband would be cut off today if I didn't do what they said. The first part was an automated message with an English accent, then a person with a foreign accent came on the line. Sounds like a scam or some sort of phishing attempt to me. When I checked my 1471, the number showed up as 01357 524 308.

Got a call from someone claiming they were from Ofcom, saying I needed to do a mandatory broadband update. I played along when they asked me to sit in front of my computer, then they said to hit the ctrl key on the keyboard. I told them I don’t have a keyboard since I use an iPad, completely confused the person on the other end and they just hung up. Blocked the number straight away!

Somebody called saying they were from Ofcom and talked about a compulsory broadband update. I didn’t bother listening and just ended the call because it felt dodgy and like a scam.
