Just recently my dad, who’s quite old, got a call telling him to call back on this number. It was obviously some sort of scam. Luckily I was there at the time and managed to calm him down when he got worried that they’d taken £1,000 from some secret account of his. I’m pretty sure lots of other people, no matter how old, might fall for this sort of thing and get caught out.

Got a call from this number, some bloke named Matthew speaking with an Indian accent. He said I was due a refund for overpaying on a washing machine. When I asked for specifics like the purchase date and the exact make and model, he just cut me off straight away. Pretty obvious that was a scam.

I told him straight up, “No you’re not!” Then he asked if I was the main user of the computer, and I said no. After that, he just hung up. Yesterday evening my wife, who’s a bit poorly at the moment, got a call. The person on the other end used her name which seemed quite strange. She talks softly and there was loads of noise in the background, typical of some call centre. They didn’t give any info and just ended the call abruptly. I blocked the number as soon as I got back.
