Someone rang me about a car crash I supposedly was part of (I definitely wasn’t), claiming I came out unscathed. Bit strange cos all the other callers mentioned something about washing machine insurance instead. I guess the woman I talked to must have skipped the chat where they worked out the car insurance scam didn’t fly and decided to switch over to washing machine deals instead.

This number rang me earlier today and, daft me, I picked up. You could tell straight away it was a call centre, loads of people chatting in the background. The call just dropped, so maybe it’s one of those auto-dialers. Seeing what others have said, it’s clearly some kind of scam, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked it. They claimed they called regarding insurance for my washing machine and requested my bank information. When I informed them that I didn't have the details with me, they abruptly ended the call.

A courteous gentleman rang me, saying he was from DAG and that the 12-month cover on my washing machine had ended. He mentioned a new policy would lower the cost by £2 a month. He had the right name and address and said the new policy was ready to be sent out. He also said Direct Debits would keep being taken on the 1st, but he needed me to confirm my bank account details for that. I told him I needed to think about it, and he said he could wait on the line or ring back later. Seemed very professional. However, when I checked, we actually don’t have washing machine cover at all.

Got a call from this number earlier but didn’t pick up. Checked this site afterwards and decided to block it. They rang again, this time with no caller ID, claiming to be from Dag and that they’d insured my washing machine - which is not true at all. I mentioned all the bad reviews I found online about them, and they just said it’s because only negative stuff gets posted, then they ended the call! Quite dodgy if you ask me.

Watch out! There's a new trick where the caller tries to get you to say "yes" when they ask if it's you on the line. Don't say "yes" at all. If you need to agree, simply reply with "that's me" or "correct". Someone called me, using my name, and asked if it was me. When I responded with "that's me", they ended the call immediately.

Nice bloke, sounded quite polite, calling about a warranty for my washing machine. Somehow he already had my old address and I foolishly gave him the new one since I bought a washing machine last year and the guarantee is almost up. He said since I hadn’t made any claims recently, I could get a £25 off a yearly plan. I just said no thanks, doesn’t seem worth it for a cheap machine, and hung up. Can see how some folks might easily get tricked into handing over their info though.

So this young bloke called and was all careful, asking if it was my Dad he was trying to reach. Once he cottoned on that I’m a woman in my twenties and not some middle-aged fella (which didn’t take long), he just hung up straight away. Tried ringing back to find out why and how he even got my number mixed up with my Dad’s - which is weird since we don’t even share a last name. Every time I tried, it just said ‘call failed’. Looks dodgy to me. Blocked him for good!

A bloke rang up saying my washing machine cover needed renewing, due 1/4/18 - said I could sort it there and then on the phone. He even knew what I was paying every month, said it was going down by £1 since I hadn’t made any claims. Then asked if I wanted to renew now and just needed to check my Direct Debit details. Got really miffed when I refused to give my sort code and account number over the phone - then he threatened to cancel my policy straight away! Told him in no uncertain terms where to go!

Absolute rip off! They claimed to be from Domestic and General, telling me my washing machine warranty needed renewing right then. Thing is, I don’t even have any cover with them. When I pressed for more info, the line just went dead. They’re clearly after your bank info to take money. Just ignore and block these calls, don’t fall for it!

They claimed to be from DAG (Domestic Appliance Group) and wanted me to update my direct debit for the washing machine insurance. When I told them I don’t think I’ve got a direct debit with them, they just ended the call.
