Fraudsters - Yesterday, I received a phone call from this particular number. I politely but firmly declined their offer, clearly stating that the only unsolicited calls I received were from them. Annoyed by my response, they hung up. However, to my surprise, we subsequently received three consecutive calls from the same number, which turned out to be "silent and goodbye" calls. Then, today, we received yet another call from the TPM service inquiring about the unsolicited calls. I brushed them off with a standard "Go away" remark, but that triggered another three calls from the automated caller with the same "silent and goodbye" message. It seems like they are purposely generating demand for their service, or is it coercion to force us to pay and prevent further TPM calls...!!! Do any of you have any suggestions on how to report these scammers?

Got a call from 01349 853673 claiming to be the Telephone Preference Management Service - sounds like what others have mentioned here. They keep saying they’re TPS but it’s really dodgy. Yesterday I told them to buzz off, then got three silent calls which just hung up. Today they called again, saying they do the TPS thing, so I told them straight to stop calling and take my number off their list. Since then, three more silent calls. I’m expecting a pushy sales call next. Proper scammers. Such a rubbish way to run a business.

Curious to know their intentions, I decided to listen to what they had to say. They asked me to provide my name and address, information they already had. But then they requested me to update my Visa card details, claiming that the previous card had expired. That's when it dawned on me that this was indeed a scam, as the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a complimentary service. In response, I firmly asked them to stop bothering me.

On the morning of 30 December 2018, got two calls on my landline - one at 8:25am and another an hour later at 9:25am. The first call was from a woman who sounded like she might be Indian or Pakistani, then the second was another woman but with a strong American accent. Both were telling me to press 1 if I wanted to deal with BT or press 2 for another provider, suggesting there was some issue to fix. I just ended the calls straight away, had a feeling it was one of those scammy landline numbers.

My mother-in-law's home phone has been getting calls from this same number every single day this week, but when she answers, no-one says a word. If what others have said is true, and they can tell exactly where the phone numbers they ring are, maybe they're checking if someone is actually at the address. That feels a bit worrying to me. The phone companies really should make use of the tech they've got to trace these calls properly, figure out who’s behind them, and help get them stopped quickly by the authorities.
