I’ve received my sixth identical call today, all from different numbers. It's the same automated female voice claiming to be from BT’s Internet Department, saying they’ve been trying to reach me urgently due to some ‘suspicious activity’ on my account. They threaten that my internet and line will be cut off if I don’t act. They prompt me to press 1 to talk to an ‘executive’ about sorting it out. I really have to take these calls as I’m waiting for my doctor’s surgery to ring me regarding my Covid vaccination, but I don’t have the luxury of caller ID.
