I got a call from a different number, 01343590092, but basically the same spiel. Some bloke called Martin claiming to work for my local energy provider. He asked if I still owned the house, whether I had double glazing and that sort of thing. Said they were doing free loft insulation surveys with no cost to me. I’ve heard similar lines before, but since I wasn’t doing anything important, I let him carry on. After a while, he asked if I was aged between 20 and 50 or 50 and 80. When I told him I’m over 80, he just said alright, they wouldn’t call me again and hung up.

Got a call from someone called Martin, said he was from customer service and not doing a cold call, just representing my local energy company. He started asking about double glazing but I didn’t want to get into it, so I just said no. He ended the call quite rudely, almost like he was annoyed or something.

Heads up for anyone who gets a call from 01236 222143 - I’ve flagged this number too but they keep up with the same nonsense. They use this voice recognition thing and claim your home is one of the biggest energy users around (which is totally not true). Listen out for them mentioning ‘local energy provider’ - that’s a big red flag cause we don’t even have anything like that! Best just block and ignore.

Got a call from this number, bloke claimed he wasn’t cold calling but wanted to help cut my energy bills. I asked him which address he was talking about and he said he couldn’t tell me that. Then he just said he probably couldn’t help me after all and hung up on me - quite rude and definitely sounds like a scam to me.

He asked me some questions but I was really suspicious and didn’t want to answer, then he just ended the call. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now as it seems like a dodgy scam.

The chap identified himself as Martin Leadbetter and was exceedingly hostile. He completely bypassed my inquiries as if he was merely reciting lines from a script. He insisted that I was among the highest electricity consumers in the nation and proposed a visit to demonstrate how he could help me save some cash. When I pressed for details regarding the address they claimed still had fibreglass insulation (considering I reside in a flat on the second floor), he was evasive. He wouldn't disclose the address nor reveal how he obtained my landline number, which I keep private. He went on about passing my details to his superior, promising a follow-up call, but hung up when I demanded he verify my name and address!

Just like many others have mentioned, I had a rather unsettling encounter with this chap. He claimed to be an energy advisor but was quite pushy in his approach. He probed into specifics about my loft insulation and indicated he’d inform his supervisor, suggesting that I could expect a callback. However, when I attempted to ask him any questions, he seemed quite evasive and refused to engage. Overall, it wasn't the most pleasant experience.
