Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from Nationwide BS, luckily I don’t have an account there so I knew straight away it was a con. I asked what she wanted and she said it was a 'verification' call! When I asked what that meant, she just hung up. I’ve blocked that number now. Then today I got a call from an 'unknown' number, which I can’t block or report as scam, from a Chinese-accented woman again saying she was from Nationwide BS. Proper scam trying to trick honest folks!

I wonder why the ombudsman never checks these forums. I've reached my limit of blocked numbers ages ago. Now, when I get a call from an unknown number, I just hold the phone up to the radio and the noise is unbearable. If they actually say something, I don't hesitate to tell them to bugger off properly.

When I questioned him, he seemed annoyed and tried to convince me it was a legit call, saying he had just one more question. I said yes and was about to ask what that meant when the call suddenly cut off. You could hear what sounded like a call centre buzzing in the background.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Nationwide and needed to check some details. I asked them what the call was about before giving any info, but they just wouldn’t explain. Felt really dodgy, probably a scam.

Just got a call like this moments ago. Some bloke with an Indian accent said he was from Nationwide. He already knew my name and some old postcode I used years ago. When I told him that postcode was wrong, he got pushy and kept asking for the correct one. I asked why he was calling me out of the blue as it didn’t sound genuine.

Suddenly he lost it and shouted, “Mr ...... are you stupid or what?” I was shocked and told him to watch his language. He just repeated the insult and then suddenly hung up.

Sounds 100% dodgy to me now. Not a legitimate call at all.

My partner's phone rang and I picked it up, the caller asked for me by name. I told him he had the wrong person and asked who was calling, then he just ended the call. The voice sounded Indian.

We’ve run into this as well - they seem to know your name and some personal info but say they’re from Nationwide. When you call them out on it, they just cut the call. Total rubbish.

Fella with an Indian accent said he’s from Nationwide, wanted to check if I’m happy with my bank, asked if I’m under 80 - I stupidly said yes, then it hit me “oh wait, scam alert”, hopefully they don’t catch me out!

Picked up the phone but no one spoke. After about 15 seconds it just ended the call. Tried ringing back but wouldn't go through.

I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was calling on behalf of Nationwide. She actually knew my date of birth and postcode, which was a bit unsettling. She asked if I was satisfied with my current bank account and credit card. Once I started asking her more questions, she just ended the call abruptly.
