I got a call from a number I didn’t recognise and when I answered, the bloke started talking about renewing insurance for my washing machine. He even got the brand right, saying it was an LG, so I just let him go on for a bit. Eventually I told him I’ve never had insurance on it because I’m actually a trained appliance engineer and can fix it myself. He cut me off straight away after that. It got me wondering how he knew my washing machine details and then I remembered I’d entered a competition on Facebook for a camper van giveaway sponsored by Aldi, where one question was about my washing machine make. A similar number had rung me before about that contest asking for bank info, which I didn’t give. Sounds like this is a scam trying to con people out of money, so everyone should watch out for these dodgy callers.
