Had a call from 01353820166 just now saying I was owed some money back for overpaying my direct debits. They actually knew where I live but asked for my date of birth before sending out any cheque. Didn’t trust it, so I just ended the call. The woman had an accent that sounded Chinese to me.

They claimed the bank had some cash for me but messed up my address and just hung up on me.

The number is actually owned by a private individual, but it's been hijacked by scammers pretending to be them. The owner has been receiving calls from folks who were duped by these fraudsters for quite some time now. BT have been contacted about it, but so far they can’t really sort it out. It’s really unfortunate for the lady who genuinely owns the number.
