i got this robotic voice from someone called ‘veronica’ at bt, saying my internet was at risk or something! i just ended the call straight away.

I had the same experience earlier today and it was really scary! I never rang the number, just ended up rebooting my laptop. So far, nothing seems to be wrong.

I got a warning pop up on my laptop saying I should ring straight away and not shut the page, or else it would cause more problems. It claimed all my personal info was being hacked and told me to phone within five minutes to prevent the computer from getting blocked.

I never actually got a proper call, but this number popped up on my screen with a warning that supposedly my computer was locked (which it definitely wasn't). It’s just another one from a whole bunch of scammers pretending to be Microsoft support. Best thing to do is just ignore any of these numbers and reboot your PC. Don’t even think about calling them. You’d think Microsoft would want to hunt these frauds down and sort them out legally - or do they just not bother?
