The person who answered played along and was told to look up a fake IP address, which wasnt actually theirs. When the caller realised the truth they got angry and swore before hanging up. Overall, the call appears to be a fraudulent attempt to scare people into thinking their internet is compromised.

Got a ring from someone claiming to be BT, telling me my internet had been hacked from somewhere in the States. I played along and he asked me to look up "my 1p address" on Google, which showed an American address, not my actual IP or broadband details (I’m not even with BT!). After a while, he twigged I was messing about, swore at me, and then just cut the call. Ha!
