I received a phone call from someone purporting to be from BT, claiming there was a problem with my internet connection. He identified himself as David Martin, but his accent was definitely not local. When he probed to find out my guess on his background, I bluntly told him it sounded like an Indian call centre and that I suspected it was a scam. His attitude took a turn for the worse, and he insulted me by calling me an idiot. I quipped back, “Oh, are we making it personal now?” and then he promptly ended the call. It’s disgraceful how these con artists target the elderly, potentially robbing them of their hard-earned money. It’s high time these fools were tracked down, brought to justice, and locked up. I tried calling the number again, but I was met with an automated message saying the number wasn’t in service.
