The real con artists are the huge firms like British Gas, EDF, HSBC and so on. They set up dodgy legal setups. Don’t waste time on Wills or Powers of Attorney, those are just traps too. Never keep assets in just one name because if you lose mental capacity, you won’t even be able to access your own money for yourself or your loved ones.

The company is Claims Direct, based at 136-144 Old Shoreham Way in East Sussex. I informed them that this number belonged to the UK Ministry of Defence and warned them to take it off their list, or else one of our security officers might have to come see them. They apologized and seemed quite sorry about the mistake.

I've received three calls from this number today alone! Both callers had a South African accent and were keen to enroll me in some PPI and mortgage insurance claim schemes. They started probing for my personal details, but I firmly declined. In the end, I politely said my goodbyes and ended the call. I've now taken the liberty to block the number entirely.
