I’ve had a few calls exactly like this. They rang me three times saying I’d be breaking the law if I didn’t get my loft checked by the New Year. Really shady behaviour. I managed to find their number, it’s 03333 442968, and I told them firmly to stop calling or I’ll report them to Trading Standards. Would advise anyone else getting this to do the same.

Nobody said a word, but I did try chatting in French with them. Really fed up with calls at my house, feels like pure harassment. The TPS does nothing at all, and I can't help but question how much taxpayer cash they're actually given?

I look after an older man and got a call from this number earlier. They wanted to speak to Mr or Mrs ? I told them I’m his carer and asked if I could get a message. Then the caller got quite rude, demanded to know who I was, and when I said I didn’t have to say, they just hung up. Looked up the number afterwards and I’ll be telling the family about it. It’s really upsetting that people can make these kind of calls with no consequences.

Got a bloke ringing up asking for me by name, wanting to know when the last loft check took place. I said I had no idea, then he started asking who might know and when they’d be free. He was going on like it’s some sort of government rule that lofts have to be checked. Lucky I’m not old or anything, or I might’ve fallen for it. If he rings again, I’ve got the number saved - should be a fun chat!

Tried to track her number to lodge a complaint but couldn’t manage it. She mentioned she worked for a company called Thermo Gen. I picked up and he already knew my last name, I told him I was with TPS but he said that didn’t matter because he wasn’t trying to sell anything. He mentioned they’re working in our area and offering a free insulation check worth £650. I told him it was pointless for me, but he insisted it wouldn’t cost a thing. I explained that with my current income being just £1.75 a week and no job lined up anytime soon, it really wasn’t worth it. He apologised for bothering me and said he’d update their records. The call was blocked anyway.

Got a silent ring from 01332 896531. Checked the reviews here and matched it with Thermo Gens’ number on their site. Managed to speak to a guy who admitted that this number is part of their survey team, which seems to be their way around TPS rules. Since it was a silent call, I reported it to OFCOM. Anyone else annoyed by these should do the same, so OFCOM can look into it and put a stop to it. Companies ignoring this can be fined up to £2 million. If no one reports, nothing will change. Last week I got a phone call from a company called Thermo Gen. I ended up chatting with a really nice young woman named Courtney, who explained about the loft insulation checks they’re carrying out and why. This morning, an engineer came by to take a look at my loft. He didn’t find any issues at all and gave me a thorough report after the inspection. Before this, I had no clue what kind of insulation was up there or how it was doing. Turns out I’ve got fibreglass insulation, and everything’s good for the coming years. Big thanks to Thermo Gen!

Sounds like they're just trying to freak people out into booking a check right now. No thanks!!! She was pretty polite, even when I warned I'd charge them £50 for calling me again. Received a call from this number where the person claimed to be from Thermo-gen enquiring about my loft insulation. I didn't share anything beyond what they seemed to know already. Asked how they got hold of my information without my permission and raised concerns about data protection. The lady promised to delete my info once I challenged their right to hold it. Not sure yet if they actually followed through on that!
