I have encountered a situation similar to the ones described below. I have received three calls in which I was warned that failing to have my loft inspected in the New Year would result in breaking the law. These tactics are completely unacceptable. I managed to find their contact number, which is 03333 442968. I called them to firmly demand no more calls and informed them that I would be reporting the incident to Trading Standards. I highly recommend that anyone else facing this issue takes the same course of action.

I work as a caregiver for an elderly man. A moment ago, I received a phone call from an unknown number. The person on the other end asked to speak with Mr or Mrs ? I explained that I was a carer and offered to take a message. To my surprise, the lady became quite rude and demanded to know who was calling. I politely declined to disclose my identity, as I am not obliged to do so. Soon after, the call abruptly ended. As a precautionary measure, I decided to check the phone number online and will inform the family of this incident. It is truly upsetting that these types of calls are allowed to occur without consequence.

I informed the person that he already knew our last name. I mentioned that I was registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Service), to indicate my preference not to receive unsolicited sales calls. However, he assured me that he wasn't selling anything. He mentioned that his company was currently operating in our area and wanted to conduct a free insulation inspection amounting to £650 in value. Despite his reassurance that it would cost me nothing, I stated that there was no use in proceeding with the inspection. I explained that my current income is only £1.75 per week and without any job prospects in sight, it wouldn't be beneficial for me. The person apologized for bothering me and promised to update their database accordingly. Nonetheless, I blocked the call anyway.

Got a silent ring from 01332 896531. Checked the reviews here and matched it with Thermo Gens’ number on their site. Managed to speak to a guy who admitted that this number is part of their survey team, which seems to be their way around TPS rules. Since it was a silent call, I reported it to OFCOM. Anyone else annoyed by these should do the same, so OFCOM can look into it and put a stop to it. Companies ignoring this can be fined up to £2 million. If no one reports, nothing will change. Last week, I received a phone call from Thermo Gen. I had a pleasant conversation with Courtney, a delightful young lady. She informed me about the loft insulation inspections that they are currently conducting and the purpose behind them. This morning, an Engineer from Thermo Gen visited my home to inspect the loft. Fortunately, no issues were found during the inspection and I received a comprehensive report as evidence. Prior to this, I was unaware of the specific type of insulation in my loft. Now, I am aware that I have Fibreglass insulation and can rest assured knowing that everything is in good condition for the next few years. I would like to express my gratitude to Thermo Gen for their excellent service!

Please place a block on this caller from reaching the elderly, among others! They have suggested that the government might enforce mandatory insulation testing next year… just to alarm people into thinking they require immediate checks. Definitely not acceptable! Despite my threat of invoicing them £50 for their next call, the individual on the other end attempted to maintain a polite demeanour. They brought up the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) but denied being a cold caller or salesman. But really, why would they be calling if not for financial purposes? Well, needless to say, I have now taken the necessary steps and blocked their number!

I received a phone call from this number claiming to be Thermo-gen. They were inquiring about the insulation in my loft. I didn't provide them with any additional information as they already seemed to have some of my details. I expressed my concern about the access they had to my information without my consent and mentioned data protection regulations. The person on the other end assured me that she would remove my details when I questioned her authority to possess them. Only time will tell if she actually follows through with this!
