I got a call from someone saying they were from my broadband company, saying there was a problem letting hackers get in. They wouldn’t answer any questions directly though. When I asked for their name and the name of their firm, they just said BT. I just thanked them and said I’d ring BT myself to check it out. Never give them any details like your name or which company you use for internet, just play it safe.

Got a call from 01332 60223, some bloke with a foreign accent claiming there was a problem with my BT router setup. Couldn't really make out everything he was saying, but I had a gut feeling it was a scam. Kept him chatting for ages while I got on with other stuff. Then he asked for my password, and I was like, why on earth would I hand it over to some scammer? He then asked why I was wasting his time on the phone, and I told him exactly that - wanted to waste his time back. He told me to f off, so I just said, 'Have a lovely day. And up yours!' Brilliant.

Got a call from some bloke, said his name was Jack but sounded dodgy, claiming my internet had issues he could sort. I told him to find a real job and stop using fake names. I looked up the number, tried ringing it back but it said the number didn’t exist. Total scam if you ask me.

Like the others have mentioned, this bloke called me saying there was an issue with my router. He just kept going on and on until I told him I’d report him and then I slammed the phone down. He phoned again earlier but I was out so my lad picked up. He’s pretty tech-savvy and ended up chatting with the caller for ages. When the guy tried to get some details out of him, my son said he worked in IT and knew everything was fine. The caller hung up straight away! Seriously, don’t give them any details!

This number’s called me a couple of times now. First time I told them straight up it’s a scam, and the bloke just ended the call. Next time a woman answered and said it wasn’t, but I told her to find a proper job or she’d end up in trouble. I’ve blocked this one, but I keep getting the same nonsense from different numbers too.

I wouldn’t bother picking up if this number rings you - answering just gives them your info like your name and address, and they end up sharing your number with other scam callers. I’ve got caller ID on my landline, and this number calls me almost daily, so I just block it out. If it’s important, they usually leave a voicemail anyway. It’s annoying, but there’s not much you can do. I’m on the TPS list but it doesn’t seem to stop these calls. They did give me a contact, 01625545745 (option 4), for reporting nuisance calls, but I haven’t had the chance to ring them yet. Before, I used to label these calls “scam” on my caller ID, but they keep switching numbers. Now I just ignore any number that looks dodgy, though some do look pretty real. If it’s happening on your mobile, tag them as spam. Good luck with it!

So frustrating, been getting calls daily for like two weeks now, I just ignore them. If it's something important, they'll probably drop a message on my answerphone, thank goodness for caller ID on my landline. Before I used to call out the fake numbers, but these days they change their numbers all the time so it's no use.

I kept getting calls from this number like 12 times in two days, never left a voicemail. Finally answered and some bloke with an Asian accent said there was a problem with my internet, which is rubbish since my internet works fine and I actually work in IT. Totally a scam trying to cause trouble. Feels like straight up harassment and pretty sketchy. Best just to avoid and don’t fall for it!

A guy rang me saying he was from BT Internet and wanted to talk to my husband, even knowing his first name. I politely said he wasn't available, and he quickly said sorry for disturbing me. He was so courteous it caught me off guard and made me wonder if it was real. Luckily, I came across this site and it cleared things up.

I got a call from someone with a foreign accent claiming to be from my internet provider. I asked them who my provider was, and they replied BT. I then asked why they assumed BT was my provider, and suddenly they started shouting at me to just answer the question. Since I didn’t respond, they ended the call.
