Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, sounded like she had a strong accent. She kept asking if my boiler was running fine. I’m not with British Gas at all, so I just said ‘Hello’ a couple of times, then started pressing random keys on the phone. From what I know, those buttons make a loud sound on their end. Afterwards, I just hung up. Typical scam.

When I rang them back, an automated voice said it was for a phone survey and to press 2 if I wanted to opt out. I went ahead and pressed it, but I’m pretty sure it just lets them know the number is active, meaning I’ll probably get swamped with calls. Still, I enjoy messing with them, so I’m ready for whatever’s next!

Got a call from this number bright and early at 8am, but they just dropped the call as soon as my voicemail kicked in.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from British Gas asking if I’m the lady of the house about my boiler cover, which I don’t even have with them. The woman had a heavy accent and it all felt like yet another dodgy scam. I’m sick of these annoying calls, always blocking them whenever they pop up. Plus, I’m registered with the TPS, so how are they still managing to get through? Really hope they take the hint and stop ringing me.

I got a call from two people, Sarah and Matthew, both speaking in heavy Indian accents, saying they worked for British Gas. They told me the contact number for boiler repairs was changing. But here’s the catch - they said they couldn’t tell me the new number unless I handed over my bank details first. Like, who’s gonna fall for that?

Got a call from someone saying they were British Gas, trying to sell me boiler coverage, which felt off since British Gas are already fixing my heater right now! Definitely a scam, so I added the number to my scam contacts.

Got a call at half past eight this morning, didn't answer cause I didn't know the number. It just kept ringing and no voicemail was left!

I didn’t answer since the person on the other end was silent. According to this website, it seems to be a call centre.

The bloke on the phone wanted to know if I was the head of the household. I asked him who he was, but he had a really thick Indian accent and I couldn't make out what he was saying, so I just hung up. Seems like a total scam to me.

I got a call at half past seven in the morning from some foreign bloke. He asked if I was the lady of the house. Told him he’d just woken me up and it was far too early for a call like that. Then he just cut me off. Definitely a scam.

Stopping these scam calls by blocking the numbers doesn’t really work. They just ring back using loads of fake or spoofed UK mobile and landline numbers that computers make up. I saw some comments here explaining how you can report suspicious calls, which is the only way to actually do something. These scam gangs rely on most people not bothering to report them, and that's why they carry on doing it.

Hardly any scam tries get logged which is why official figures don't show scams as a big issue. But if every scam gets reported everywhere possible, all the right authorities - police included - will have the info they need. Flooding the reporting sites with complaints could push the government to do more about it. Have a look at the comments below. At the very least, the dodgy number gets removed and the scam gets counted properly in the stats.

Had a call this morning from a Derby area code, number starting 0803. It was some guy with an Asian accent, said his name was Pete. The first thing he mentioned sounded like something about #### Second travel or something like that. Pretty dodgy if you ask me!

Got a call at 8 in the morning on Boxing Day, and there was no way it wasn’t a scam. Reported it straight away and blocked the number. Pretty sure Bangalore doesn’t do bank holidays then.

Got a call around 8.05 in the morning on Boxing Day, said it was from a UK call centre but the bloke on the other end had such a strong Indian accent it was nearly impossible to make out what he was saying. Definitely just another spam call like everyone else's.

Honestly, Boxing Day is a joke here, feels like there’s about as much chance of snow as a snowball making it through hell unscathed!

My phone went off at 7:55 on Boxing Day and I picked up with a simple hello. The person on the other end replied back with a hello, but it all sounded like a busy call centre. Then suddenly, they just ended the call.

Got a call early on Boxing Day, about 8:09 in the morning. I didn't pick up, and then I searched online to find others who might’ve had the same thing happen. Looks like it was spam, so I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a call at 8:02 on Boxing Day from what’s obviously an Indian call centre. Total scam! How on earth do these scammers manage to get UK phone numbers? It’s ridiculous the government lets this happen. And now with the trade deal they’ve done with them, it’s like we’re just handing over everything to these lot - and China too! Feels like we’re selling out big time.
