Someone said they were from a house valuation firm but neither my mortgage lender nor myself had any contact with that firm. I rang the company myself and they had no record of me, so it seemed fishy. They tried to scare me by saying my mortgage offer would be cancelled if I didn't go along with it. The same caller also phoned the seller and the estate agent with the same story. If someone rings asking for your security details, it’s a total red flag! I only mentioned the first two letters of my postcode and that gave it away pretty quickly. Either they or Santander have made a right mess of things, I really hope that’s all it is. But so many people here saying it’s a scam makes me worry. If it’s legit, they’re not very good at it.
