I'd got a reminder a couple of days ago but couldn’t get into my email to settle it then. The bloke on the phone said I had to pay right away by card or I’d face a £25 fee if I paid at the post office instead. I told him I’d pay at the post office, but he kept pushing the card payment, which made me suspicious it was a scam. Felt dodgy, so I told him off and hung up. When I rang British Gas myself, they weren’t entirely sure if it was legit but agreed their staff shouldn’t speak to customers like that. Something about it felt off to me. From now on, I’m sticking to paying at the post office and refusing to give card details over the phone.
