Got a couple of dodgy texts from +44 7436 875143 in the same evening. First one said: HSBC - Here’s your one-time code 987658, it’s for adding your card to Apple Pay on a new device. If you didn’t request this, ring 01332389089. Then moments later, almost the exact same message popped up again, just a bit tweaked but with the same code and number to call. Pretty clear scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a text saying: SANTANDER: Apple Pay has been set up successfully, if that wasn’t you, ring us right away on 01332389089. Thing is, A: I’m not a Santander customer. B: I don’t even use Apple Pay. C: That phone number isn’t Santanders. And D: The message came from +447713354798. Pretty obvious SCAM! Do NOT ring that number - get in touch with your bank directly!

Thing is, I have no account with Santander. And Apple Pay? Never even set it up. Plus, that number's dodgy - definitely not Santander's official line. The message actually came from +447713354798.

This is a total SCAM, be careful! Don’t ring the number they give, just contact your own bank directly!

Just got a message claiming to be from Virgin Money, came from +447596512143. The text said something like "Virgin-Money: your OTP is 81669 for a purchase of £117.89 at Argos. If you didn't make this, ring 01332389089 straight away." This is definitely a scam, so whatever you do, don't ring the number!
