Got a call from someone with a strong Asian accent asking about a car crash I'd supposedly been in during the past couple of years. Thing is, I haven't had any accident, but I pretended to answer his questions without handing over any personal stuff. Wanted to waste his time a bit and not let him get the upper hand like some gullible person might. After a while, he just gave up and hung up. I'm registered with the TPS, so it really bugs me that he was able to reach me in the first place.

Some bloke rang me claiming to be from central accident management, saying there was an accident involving me. I kept asking who he wanted to speak to and if he was sure he’d dialled a business number. We went back and forth a couple of times before he just ended the call. When I looked the number up, it came up linked to Homer Berrisford Solicitors in Derby, who deal with personal injury claims. Just so you know, I’m on the TPS list.

I got a call from someone saying they were with Central Accident Management, talking about a car accident I supposedly had in the last couple of years. They claimed they got my details from my insurance, but when I asked which insurance company, the person just hung up. Using 1471, I checked the number and it seems linked to a solicitor's office in Derby. Just to clarify, this scam isn’t connected to Central Accident Management Services Ltd, who are actually working with the Ministry of Justice and the TPS to sort this out under reference 376251, according to their website.

Got a call about some accident I supposedly had, but I don’t even drive, so I decided to mess about with the guy. Told him I was spinning donuts in a car park and ended up smashing a parked car. Said it was my fault but couldn’t recall my car’s licence plate since I’d wrecked three cars recently. I also said I was born in 1921 and that my son, Elvis, who was in the passenger seat, was born in 2016. A few hours later he rang back, and I just kept him hanging while pretending to search for the plate number. Naturally, I couldn’t find it, and he said it must be on my insurance papers. I told him I wasn’t insured and that I was due in court soon for dangerous driving charges. He kept telling me it was proven not to be my fault, so I asked him to call South Yorkshire Police and let them know so I wouldn’t be prosecuted. Honestly, don’t get annoyed with these calls - have a laugh and waste their time by pulling a story out of nowhere!
