Today, I had a phone call from people pretending to be from HMRC. They made it sound like a proper call centre, passing me from one “staff member” to another. They claimed there was a legal case being prepared against me right now for tax evasion and said I needed to settle my debt immediately. I ended up arguing with the so-called "HMRC agent" and called him out, which clearly annoyed him. I ended the call and then rang the real HMRC on their official number, who confirmed the earlier call was definitely a scam.
