This afternoon, I received a rather dubious telephone call claiming to be from HMRC. It seemed as though I was shuffled between different "agents" in what closely resembled a call centre operation. They proceeded to inform me that a lawsuit was in process against me for tax evasion and insisted that I settle my outstanding debts with them immediately. After a rather heated exchange with my so-called "HMRC representative," who clearly did not appreciate my direct approach, I decided to hang up. I then took the prudent step of reaching out to HMRC via their official number, only to be reassured that the previous call had indeed been a fraudulent attempt on their part.
