I received a rather alarming automated message claiming to be from Ofcom, threatening to suspend my internet service. There were two options provided for confirmation. When I selected the first, I was put through to a chap with an Asian accent who claimed to be a BT technician. Curious, I requested a phone number to authenticate his identity, but to my surprise, he abruptly hung up on me. So, I decided to ring the number back from my mobile, only to be told that 01327545460 wasn’t a valid number at all! How dodgy is that?
