This number rang me early, around 7.50 in the morning. The caller spoke English quite well but had an accent. He said his name was Alec and claimed to be calling about my computer’s windows. I told him to buzz off and ended the call. These scammers are just trying to con people who don’t realise that Microsoft never calls about your computer. Best thing to do is just hang up straight away, they’re only after access and personal info. Remember, legitimate companies don’t phone about computer issues or viruses - only these nasty scammers do. It’s a harsh world out there, so stay sharp and don’t fall for their tricks.

Got a call from this number around 9.30 in the morning on 22nd September 2014. Heard some strange muffled sounds, then chuckling, before an Indian guy who was laughing too much to speak properly tried to say who he was. I told him straight and loud that if he can’t talk properly then I’m not wasting my time. Then I just ended the call. As far as I know, it’s the first time this number has rung me. Next time, I’m thinking of blowing a whistle right down the phone!

What the heck is up with that bloke from Asia? He’s been ringing me at my house first thing and then calls me at work in the afternoon saying he’s from Microsoft, trying to fix my PC. It’s really starting to annoy me big time. Can someone do something about him? Is it possible to make a police report about this?

I actually listened to what they had to say! The caller, who sounded like he was from India, connected me to someone claiming to be a "Microsoft certified expert." He told me to open the event viewer on my old Windows 7 machine. I spotted tonnes of errors from the last few months, some about trying to write on files that were read-only - typical stuff they use to scare people. While he was still on the call, I ran Avast and Malwarebytes scans, both showed nothing suspicious. Once I realised how they trick folks, I challenged them on not being genuine Microsoft reps and asked how they even got my details. I told the guy to get a proper, honest job and to stop calling me. Yet, annoyingly, they rang again this morning, nearly a week later. I’ll get my phone provider to block their number completely. - Tony, Reading, UK

Got a call from some strange number that looked nothing like a regular UK phone digit count. The bloke was shouting, saying he needed to discuss my computer. I told him, "No chance," then he just went silent and hung up. Probably some scam from India or somewhere like that.

Got a call about 8:20 this morning and all I could hear was some strange muffled sounds in the background!

I told them I was too busy and hung up, but they kept trying to keep me on the line. Sometimes I get calls like this where no one's actually there. Next time, I’m just gonna tell them I’ll patch them through, then play some music for ages. Maybe some classic rock.

I got a call from this number and when my answerphone kicked in, all I could hear was weird muffled sounds and voices. Definitely odd.

I keep telling the callers it's my windows that are double glazed, but they just hang up on me. Plus, I keep getting silent calls from the same number, which is really annoying. They really should put a stop to this rubbish.

Today, I got a call from someone saying they were from the Windows support team. I told them straight away I knew it was a scam. Then the bloke started asking me about job opportunities in the UK because he was from India and hoping to move here. Honestly, don’t fall for it!

Got a call earlier but no one spoke.
I checked by dialling "1471" and this number popped up.
Looks like it's missing two digits to be a proper UK number.
Pretty sure it's some kind of scam.

Heard some sort of call centre buzz in the background and the voice was really muffled, then they just cut the call. I rang them back but it said the number wasn’t valid. This was about 11:04 on 11th June 2014.

Just got a call from this number claiming there’s an issue with my computer. Cut them off straight away, told them we’re registered with TPS and that it’s illegal to keep ringing like that. I made it clear they need to take our number off their list and not bother us ever again. As I ended the call, I caught the caller grumbling about trying to “help” with my computer. Wasn’t falling for that nonsense. Quickly hung up, checked my call log using 1471, jotted down the number and searched online. Came across your website - turns out it was definitely a scam. Didn’t get far, thankfully!

Got a call from this number today, some woman pretending to be from Microsoft. She said my computer was hacked and kept pushing me to give personal info. Definitely one of those scam calls, watch out!

Saw somewhere else that this might be one of those scams. When they finally talk, they tell you there's something wrong with your PC and then start asking for loads of your security info.

How come BT doesn’t block these calls? They’ve gotta be using one of BT’s exchanges, right? Seems odd they just let them ring through like that.

Got a call today around 11:33 from 013256215 - but the number was missing two digits to be full. When I answered, it was dead silent, so I hung up quick. Strange enough, after I ended the call, my phone got stuck and wouldn’t let me use it for a few minutes.

Got a call early today. The number was odd and rather short, not what I'm used to seeing here in the UK. No one spoke when I answered either. Surely that must mean it’s trackable? Very strange.

Got a call at 10:49 on the 25th March 2014. They told me to call back on 0808 2343 2039. I said I’d get back to them, but when I looked the number up online, nothing came up at all. Using 1471, I found the calling number was 013256215. Pretty sure they’ve called me earlier too. Feels like it’s some kind of scam to me.

I picked up the phone early this morning, but there was no one there and then the call just ended suddenly!
