I got a call from someone saying they were from BT’s tech team offering a free fix for my ‘unstable’ broadband speeds. Thing is, I don’t even use BT. I told them this, but they kept insisting that since they had my consumer licence number, there was nothing to worry about. When I asked them to prove they were really from BT, all they did was go on about the licence number again. Then, when I said I might check the phone number myself, they got quite irritable. I just ended the call there and then.
