Somebody rang me claiming to be from Amazon’s security team, saying my account had been cloned. They asked me to look on my PC for an email from Amazon. They were really pushy and when I refused, they put me through to the “IT security department”. The guy said he was calling from London, but the number was actually from Darlington. He said there was a £700 transaction waiting to be approved by someone in Devon, and if I didn’t comply, it’d go through anyway. He kept pushing and even called me childish when I hesitated. After I hung up, the same number rang again but I didn’t pick up. Then, instantly another call came from a Middlesbrough number, 01642700417, which I also ignored.
