Got a text late last night that had me quite concerned, so I decided to ring the number provided. It led me to an automated message telling me to press one if I’m this individual, or I could follow a link to settle what they claimed to be an unpaid debt. Feeling a bit frantic, I clicked the link, which surprisingly directed me to what looked like a legitimate site. It prompted me for my postcode, and then provided me with a total amount owed alongside full personal details. I’m not entirely convinced it’s a dodgy operation, but I’ll be giving the council a ring shortly to clarify things.

Fraud alert! I just received an automated call that supposedly came from Eastbourne Borough Council, claiming I'd overpaid my housing benefit. To top it off, I got a dodgy text message with a link attached. Honestly, if someone was truly behind on payments, they'd get an official letter, not this nonsense!
